We ask you to complete the six steps homework this helps you to understand your smoking behaviour and will be key to helping you to take the freedom step and achieve. Not One Puff Ever!
One the boredom trigger
The first trigger is stimulation
Feeling bored, stuck, the need to do something and you don’t know what that something is so you pick up a cigarette. What's really happening here is that your mind has noticed a vacuum in your emotional state or in your physiology, that has generated some energy. You naturally look for a way to vent the energy before the build-up becomes uncomfortable.
Two, the physical addiction to nicotine
Something to consider here is that only smokers have withdrawal symptoms. If you really think about it that way, it is an absolute fact that cigarettes cause withdrawal symptoms. Being free from cigarettes causes those symptoms to go away. Have you ever noticed that a cigarette doesn’t make withdrawal symptoms go away? People smoke them in bunches, and the pain still doesn’t go away. Take the Fagastum test and lets assess how addicted to nicotine you are and then in the session we provide you with some powerful tools to manage and rid any cravings. keep listening to your audio and those pains will reduce and within days be gone. Because non-smokers don’t have withdrawal symptoms.
Three the handling trigger
Simply holding a pen or a set of keys or using EFT or a hand tapping anchor can fulfil the need for handling.
Give it a go! Hold onto something in your hand and notice how good it feels. The hands often just like to play, or need an activity. If previously at any time your hands used to grab for a cigarette packet, think about picking up something else. This vents the energy and gives your hands what they want. If you’re one of those people whose hands just have to be doing something, then go with it. Give them something harmless, helpful or even playful to do.
Four the habits and rituals trigger.
A habit or a ritual is just what happens when two things become anchored together at the same time regularly. This operates in the same way as in classical conditioning, Pavlov’s dogs (Pavlov 1902). He’d always ring a bell at the same time as when his dogs were eating. The next thing that happened was that the dogs would salivate but at any time they heard the bell. Even if Pavlov didn’t put any food out.
Your mind is a pattern seeking device. If you chose to smoke every time you see your friends smoking, or every time you have a cuppa, then every time you see friends smoke, or every time you want a cuppa, you'll have a craving.
If you tell your friends and then chose not to smoke around smokers, your mind would untangle the ritual or habit and the craving will be gone. We have some powerful techniques we will use and share with you that break the patterns, rituals and habits down.
Five the tension trigger
Tension is just the minds way of wanting to control what it can’t.
For example, you find somebody or some situation that has caused you tension. You can’t actually feel tension unless you try to control the situation in some way. Even if your way of trying to control the situation is to try to relieve the tension. The only way to relieve tension is to let go of it. It’s just like a Chinese finger trap, where the tighter you pull, the harder it grips your finger.
We know that smoking actually increases tension and puts a huge amount of stress on the systems of the body. in our session we will address any tension and stress so that you can become more resilient and less stressed.
Six the pleasure trigger
Everybody wants to relax, and everybody needs a way to unwind.
We will show you some essential relaxation exercises that you will be able to draw upon throughout the day. They will help you to sleep, maintain a calm and balanced temperament and allow your conscious experiences throughout the day to feel comfortable. You will feel approachable and the big picture perspective will be available to you in an effortless and resourceful way.
When you have submitted your homework we can reprogram these six triggers so that you can take the freedom step and say woth confidence not one puff ever, NOPE!
